Special week under the Tuscan ...
Villa Astreo is not far from Siena, (10 Km, around 15/20 minutes by car). The easiest way to reach it is to take the “Siena North” exit and then follow the SP102 road. The SP102 is very easily recognizable as it is the only paved road that connects Siena to Vagliagli.
Please follow our directions carefully and you will easily find us:
1. If you are driving on the A1 motorway from Milan towards Florence (South way), first take the Firenze-Impruneta exit and then, immediately on your right, take the motorway “SS 2 Firenze-Siena” (SS Palio – SIENA 4 corsie) to Siena. Then take the exit called "Siena Nord" and follow the directions at point 3.
2. If you are driving on the A1 motorway from Rome towards Florence (North way): first take the Valdichiana exit, than turn right into the SS 326 Siena-Bettolle to Siena. Then follow the signs to “Firenze”, driving on the “Tangenziale” that leads you to SS 2 Firenze – Siena (SS Palio -4 corsie). Drive on the SS 2 up to the “Siena Nord” Exit. Then follow the directions at point 3.
3. Take the exit called “SIENA NORD” and you will get to a big roundabout. At the roundabout turn left following SS222 towards “Castellina in Chianti”. After 1.5 km you will see a sign of “Vagliagli”. Turn right towards Vagliagli and keep straight along SP 102 till you reach the first houses of this town.
Once you see a tall wall that flanks the left side of the road, you will also be able to spot the sign of “Villa Astreo”. At the point where the road divides turn left into a sharp elbow along the wall and then turn left again, following the yellow “Villa Astreo” signs up to the Villa.

Villa Astreo is located in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, 10 Kilometers from Siena, near Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti, surrounded by stunning medial villages and ancient parish churches.
Immersed in the silence of a pine grove, encircled by woodland and olive groves in Chianti, Villa Astreo is the ideal base to discover all the attractions of this part of Tuscany: from the bed & breakfast you can quickly reach many striking and interesting areas such as San Gimignano, Volterra, Pienza, la Val D'Orcia, Monteriggioni and Florence, which is just 40 minutes by car from the residence.
If you wish to stay in the vicinity, in just 10 minutes you are in Siena, a splendid medieval city full of tradition and artistic masterpieces of priceless beauty, such as the Duomo, Piazza del Campo and the town hall. If you come to stay in July and August, during the famous Palio horse race, you will have the chance of availing of an exceptional guide: Rosanna Bonelli, known as "Rompicollo", the only woman to have participated in this ancient and eventful competition.
To make your stay truly unforgettable, we would be delighted to suggest alternative itineraries in areas which have not yet been overcome by mass tourism, such as San Galgano with its legendary abbey, Bagno Vignoni and the Terme di Petriolo, extremely quiet and calm areas with thermal baths. For those of you who wish to get to know local practices and customs, you will be fully satisfied: the vicinity of Villa Astreo periodically holds outdoor feasts, village festivals and tastings for wine, oil and other typical, delicious wine and food products from Tuscany. Let us mention for example the Vagliagli Grape Festival, which takes place in September.
